Day 06: Contemporary Beijing

We spent the day exploring the Beijing Olympic Village, looking at how its role within the city has shifted since the 2008 Olympics.

Expecting the classic issue with Olympic venues becoming dead zones in the city, we instead found an area filled with locals, gathered together at the main public plaza that extends down the main axis of the masterplan, with contemporary monuments in the form of stadiums and other Olympic facilities on either side and plenty of activities and families enjoying the space.

Definitely better than Stratford.
