Day 07: Beijing Under Construction

We tried to visit the South-North Water Transfer Project that brings water from the south of the country to the north, with Mao reportedly saying “there’s plenty of water in the south, not much water in the north. If at all possible; borrowing some water would be good.

Unfortunately we did not manage to get in (we will try on our return to Beijing at the end of the trip), but we did walk along a newly constructed canal supplied by the transfer project and spoke to some locals about the heavy redevelopment in the area.

Also, we also (accidentally) found the MAD Architect’s project in Sanlitun, designed to mimic mountainous landscapes which we will looking at later on during the trip.
