As a transport connection point between in our journey, Luliang is also an industrial town along an off shoot of the Yellow River. The river plays a pivotal role in this industrial city and it’s surrounding towns, as it provides the basis for many coal and iron mining sites.
Of which it brought many new opportunities and prospects to the town. As we filmed an overview of the river running through the heart of the town centre, an immediate ‘new rich’ neon driven development is surrounded by the makeshift and underdeveloped areas creating a harsh contrast. It’s a contrast of speed and diversity, creating a gap between the rich and poor as it has happened in many other rapidly developing cities.
More evidence of such industrial developments were seen in the outskirts of the town where the modern monumental highways span across the landscape to larger cities and the mining sites, to connect and fuel the needs of the nation.
