Dianchi Lake is the 8th largest lake in China and largest in Yunnan province. It’s a fresh water lake and a primary site for holiday destination. With many developed features such as the Ethnic Village where a showcase of Yunnan’s multi ethnicities come together displaying the varies cultures.
There are waves of new builds around the lake, in the style of reinterpreted western villas and expensive holiday homes. Surrounded by mountains and water, competition for this prime real estate is on the rise.
The lake is an off stream of the Yangtze River near it’s upper stream source. Dams and industrial areas are built to generate electricity, and water reserves for apart of the city’s water supplies as well as spots for fishing sourced to the city’s markets.
