We woke up at 5:30 to catch sunset today, but were once again greeted by a disappointing fog. However by mid morning, the sky started to clear up and we finally got to fully see these amazing landscapes.
“The landscapes are the pride of the villagers, and the tourism does not facilitate it in anyway.” This was explained by our driver/guide/host from the Duoyishu village, one of the sites famed for its sun rise over the rice terraces. She’s an educated woman who came back to the village after her education, a rarity amongst the generation of farmers. She further explained the state of most villagers who try to move to large cities such as Kunming to find work, only being disappointed by the harsh reality and come home to the village.
