Day 35: Huaqiang Pool

On the foothills of Li Shan, east of Xi’an are a series of springs, famed for their mineral rich water emerging at a constant 43 degrees C, have been attracting visitors for over 2500 years, visited by emperors and in its current form is a reconstructed complex from the Tang Dynasty built by Xuan Zong, who spent much of the winter here with his favourite concubine, Yang Guifei, for whom the complex was constructed for. Later, it reached the height of its popularity as an imperial pleasure resort, and one can still stay here today, for a very high fee.
